This Valentine’s Day, #GoghCreate is sipping our Love At First Sip Martini and spicing it up with one of four romantic cocktail garnish ideas!
Love at first sip martini
1 ounce. Van Gogh Vanilla
1/2 ounce. Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate
1 1/2 oz. Dark Chocolate Liqueur
1 ounce. cream
In a shaker with ice, combine vanilla vodka, chocolate vodka, chocolate liqueur and heavy cream. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Add a celebratory side dish of your choice.
What you will need:
- 1 large strawberry
- 1 cocktail stick
- paring knife
- cutting board
Step One: Place the strawberry, leaf side down, on a cutting board.
Step Two: Start about ½ inch from the base and make a 45 degree angle inward, about ¾ the length of the strawberry.
Step Three: Use your knife to curl the tip of the “petal” by pushing it backwards.
Step Four: Make two or three more petals and repeat steps two and three around the entire base of the strawberry.
Step Five: Start just above the base row of petals and repeat steps two through four to create the next row of petals. If there is space, add a third row around the top.
Step Six: Finish off your rose by pushing the tip of the strawberry inward. Insert a skewer through the center of the strawberry and balance on your martini glass.
What you will need:
- 1 large piece of orange zest
- Vegetable knife or X-ACTO knife
- cutting board
Step One: Take a large, thin piece of orange zest and place it, outside up, on a cutting board.
Step two: use a knife to draw the contours of the lips in the shell and cut all the way through.
Step Three: Remove and discard the excess peel. Then make a horizontal slit through the center of the lips.
Step Four: Place the lips on the rim of your cocktail glass and press down the center to secure them to the rim.
- 1 small strawberry
- 2 blackberries
- 1 arrow cocktail pick
- paring knife
- cutting board
Step One: Remove the stem and leaves from a strawberry.
Step Two: Hold the top of the strawberry down and cut it in half. Take one of the halves and deepen the V-shaped notch at the top. Round off the rough edges with your knife to form the top of the heart.
Step Three: Stick a blackberry onto an arrow toothpick. Then add the strawberry heart and the last blackberry.
Step Four: Balance the toothpick on the rim of your martini glass.
What you will need:
- Simple syrup
- Sugar
- heart sprinkles
- 2 small bowls or saucers
Step One: Fill one bowl with simple syrup and one with sugar.
Step Two: Dip the rim of your glass in the simple syrup and turn the glass so the entire outer rim gets wet.
Step Three: Repeat step two in the sugar bowl, making sure the entire rim is evenly coated.
Step Four: Place heart-shaped sprinkles around the rim of the martini glass, spacing about ½ inch apart.
